50V All-PMOS Charge Pumps Using Low-Voltage Capacitors

چکیده
In this work, two high-voltage charge pumps are introduced. In order to minimize the area of the pumping capacitors, which dominates the overall area of the charge pump, high density capacitors have been utilized. Nonetheless, these high density capacitors suffer from low breakdown voltage which is not compatible with the targeted high voltage application. To circumvent the breakdown limitation, a special clocking scheme is used to limit the maximum voltage across any pumping capacitor. The two charge pump circuits were fabricated in a 0.6μm CMOS technology with poly0-poly1 capacitors. The output voltage of the two charge pumps reached 42.8V and 51V while the voltage across any capacitor did not exceed the value of the input voltage. Compared to other designs reported in the literature, the proposed charge pump provides the highest output voltage which makes it more suitable for tuning MEMS devices.

Charge Pump Circuits for Low-voltage Applications
In this paper, a low-voltage, high performance charge pump circuit, suitable for implementation in standard CMOS technologies is proposed. Its pumping operation is based on cascading several crossconnected NMOS voltage doubler stages. For very low-voltage applications (1.2 V, 0.9 V), where the performance of the NMOS transistors is limited due to body effect, two improved versions of the charge...

Charge balance law based on conservation of charge is stated and employed to analyze on-chip linear, Fibonacci and exponential charge pumps. For micro-power on-chip implementations, both the positiveand the negativeplate parasitic capacitors have to be considered. Voltage conversion ratios and efficiencies can be obtained in closed form for singleand dual-branch linear charge pumps, but not for...

We developed a subthreshold CMOS circuit whose dynamical behavior, e.g., oscillatory or stationary behaviors, changes at a given threshold temperature with the aim of the development of low-power and compact temperature switch devices on monolithic ICs. The threshold temperature is set to a desired value by adjusting an external bias voltage. The circuit consists of two pMOS differential pairs,...
متن کاملCapacitor-Free Leaky Integrator
Introduction: The leaky integrator is a key subsystem in pulse-mode artificial neuron implementations [1]. In most implementations reported to date this function has been implemented with the explicit use of integrated capacitors and with fixed time constants. More recently it has been noted that mimicking real biological systems is better accomplished if the integrator time constants are adapt...
متن کاملA 1.6 GHz 0.5 mW CMOS LC Low Phase Noise VCO Using Bond Wire Inductance
A 1.6-GHz LC voltage-controlled oscillator has been implemented in a 0.5-μm CMOS process. Bond wires, with their low series resistance, provide a resonant tank with high Q. Complementary crosscoupled PMOS and NMOS transistors enhance the single-ended symmetry at each of the resonant nodes to reduce close-in phase noise. At an offset frequency of 100 kHz, the measured phase noise is -95 dBc/Hz a...
